No credit card needed · No ads, no loan offers

One customer, one khata

A khata book that totals itself

The udhar bahi khata was never the problem — shop owners have kept excellent records for generations. The problem is that a register cannot total itself, and cannot tell you that Ramesh has been carrying ₹3,200 since February.

Same entries, same habit. The difference is that the balance is right the moment you write it, and the old ones stop going quiet.

Nothing is written off silently. An old balance keeps showing up until it is either paid or you close it yourself.

Credit, payment, balance

01

Credit given

Give goods on credit and log it against the customer — amount, date, and what it was for. Takes about as long as writing it in the bahi.

02

Payment received

They pay something back, part or full. Enter it once and it lands against the same khata, with the date attached.

03

Balance, automatically

The outstanding recalculates itself after every entry. No adding up a column at month end, and no two people getting a different total.

Getting paid

Udhaar reminders that are not awkward

Most people who owe you money are not avoiding you. They forgot, and nobody wants to bring it up face to face — so the balance sits there for another month.

A short, respectful message on WhatsApp does the asking for you. The amount and the days are already filled in, so there is nothing to look up and no tone to get wrong.

  • Written politely in Hinglish, and editable to sound like you
  • Sends from your own number, so the reply reaches you
  • Knows who is oldest and largest, so you chase in the right order

What the khata app keeps track of

Every customer's khata in one list, sorted by who owes most
Running baaki updated after every udhaar and every payment
Part-payments, so a ₹500 payment against ₹2,000 is handled properly
How many days a balance has been outstanding, not just the amount
Udhaar linked to the actual bill, so you can see what it was for
A khata PDF you can share with the customer when they ask
Total udhaar across the shop — what is on the street right now
Kept separate from prepaid balance, so credit and advance never mix

Where the paper bahi loses you money

Not because it is written badly. Because a book cannot calculate, remind, or survive a spilled cup of tea.

The total is always stale

A bahi tells you the entries. It does not tell you the balance until someone sits down and adds a column — which happens late, if at all.

Disputes have no evidence

“Maine toh pichle mahine diya tha.” Without a dated payment entry you cannot settle it, so you write it off and stay quiet.

One book, one accident

Water, fire, a lost register, or the page that gets torn out. Years of who-owes-what can disappear in a single afternoon.

Old udhaar just fades

The balance nobody has looked at in eight months quietly becomes a donation. Paper has no way to raise its hand.

Udhaar khata app questions answered

What is an udhaar khata app?

A digital version of the bahi khata — the credit register Indian shops have always kept. You log udhaar given and payments received against each customer, and the app keeps the running baaki so the outstanding is always correct without any adding up.

How is this different from the free khata ledger tool?

The free tool works out one customer's ledger in the browser and lets you download it as a PDF, but it does not store anything — next time you start from an empty form. This is the full module: every customer's khata is kept, balances carry forward, and reminders go out on their own.

Can I send a payment reminder on WhatsApp?

Yes. The app knows the amount and how long it has been pending, and prepares a polite Hinglish message to that customer. It sends from your own number, so the reply comes back to you.

Does it handle part-payments?

Yes. If someone owes ₹2,000 and pays ₹500, that is logged as a payment against the khata and the baaki becomes ₹1,500 with the date recorded. Both entries stay in the history.

Is my customer list private?

Yes. There are no ads and no loan offers pushed at you or your customers, and your data backs up to your own Google Drive. Your khata list is not a lead list for anyone else.

Which plan includes udhaar?

Udhaar is on the Pro plan and above — it is not part of the free plan. Every paid plan starts with a 30-day free trial with no card needed, so you can move your khatas across and see how it runs first. See the pricing page for the full comparison.

Get back what you are owed.

Try udhaar free for 30 days. Move your khatas across, send the first reminders, and see what comes back. No card needed.
