When do you need a delivery challan?
A delivery challan accompanies goods that move without an immediate sale invoice — job work, stock transfer between locations, goods sent on approval, or supply to a site. It records what was sent, the quantity, and the reason for transport.
A purchase order (PO) is the reverse: a buyer's formal request to a supplier listing the items, quantities and expected delivery. This tool makes both from the same simple form.
What to put on a challan or PO
Include the sender and receiver, a unique number and date, the item descriptions with quantity and unit, and — for a challan — the vehicle number and reason for transport. Value (rate) is optional on a delivery challan; leave it blank for a goods-only document or fill it in for an approximate value.
